Malaysia fresh graduate CV: CGPA, SPM, MUET and what really matters
Which results to include, how to show languages, and why expected salary belongs in your cover note.

Fresh graduates in Malaysia often ask which results to list. Recruiters screen quickly, so include what helps and leave out what doesn't.
Results
- Degree and CGPA: include CGPA if it is 3.0 or above, or if the employer asks.
- SPM / STPM / foundation: optional; include only strong results or if the employer requests them.
- MUET or IELTS: include if strong and relevant to English-heavy roles.
Languages
List each language with a simple level: "Bahasa Malaysia (native), English (fluent), Mandarin (conversational)". Multilingual graduates are valuable to regional employers.
Personal details
A photo is common with local employers and optional with multinationals. Never include your IC number on a CV. Nationality can be useful for regional roles.
Expected salary and notice period
Recruiters will ask, but these belong in your cover note or the application form, not the CV. Research the range for your role and city first; Chapterwise's Career Insights shows national figures and sector pay levels.
